2012 Lollapalooza Lineup Announced: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, Jack White To Play At Chicago Music Fest
The 2012 Lollapalooza lineup has just been announced. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack White, Black Sabbath, and The Black Keys will be headlining this year’s event which will be held for the 8th consecutive year at Grant Park in Chicago.
Perry Farrell, the lead singer for Jane’s Addiction and founder of Lollapalooza, said that putting together a dynamic lineup is always a challenge. Farrell said that this year’s list came together at the last minute but he’s really happy with who’s playing at the fest this year.
Farrell said:
“Every year it’s kind of a nail biter putting a lineup together… There were moments when I looked at it and I was beside myself. I didn’t know what to do. (But this) lineup is just going to be so exciting and it’s so diverse. I think it works so well.”
More than 120 bands will be playing at Grant Fest for Lollapalooza which starts on August 3rd. The lineup includes big names like The Red Hot Chili Peppers, as wells as indie acts from music hubs like Nasvhille and Portland, as well as international bands from Europe, Chile, and Australia.
Farrell said:
“You are trying to balance a lot of things… Balance economics, there’s budget how much we can afford for talent. You’re trying to balance that with who’s available.”
The Washington Post reports that last year’s fest brought in 90,000 visitors a day. The early bird passes for this year’s event have already sold out. The $230 passes are still available.
