Lamar Odom’s Friend, Jamie Sangouthai, Died From Flesh-Eating Disease, Not Drug Overdose

Lamar Odom’s friend Jamie Sangouthai suddenly died on June 14. Having a history with addiction, it was expected that Sangouthai died of a drug overdose. Now we’re learning via TMZ that Jamie didn’t die from an alleged drug overdose, but instead a flesh-eating disease.

According to TMZ, the good friend of Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian died from necrotizing fasciitis, known as a flesh-eating disease. The cause of death was uncovered during an autopsy made by the Los Angeles Coroner.

The report said that although chronic intravenous drug use did play a large part in Jamie Sangouthai’s death, it was actually an infection that killed Odom’s best friend. According to a source, Jamie was taken to a hospital for an infection that he had on his arm prior to his death. Unfortunately, that same infection spread throughout his body.

Sangouthai died in an Los Angeles hospital on Sunday at the age of 37.

Before it was revealed what he died from, the Inquisitr reported that Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian were devastated after hearing about Jamie’s death. According to sources, Lamar, who has had trouble with addiction in the past, was said to be “really shaken” about the news.

The source went on to say, “They were best friends, like brothers. Lamar is going to take this really hard.” At the time, it was believed that Jamie’s death would be a wake up call for Lamar to get his life back on track. “He feels like it could have happened to him. This is a huge wake-up call for him. It has really shaken him.”

Khloe Kardashian filed for divorce from Lamar after addiction caused their marriage to crumble. Kardashian is dealing with the loss of Jamie in her own way, by posting messages on Twitter and Instagram. Because it was suspected that Jamie died of a drug overdose, Khloe tweeted a broken heart emoji with the words, “When does it stop? RIP Jamie Sangouthai.”

As for Kardashian’s Instagram, she posted a black and white photo of a woman crying with the caption, “Life doesn’t get easier but I promise you that life will make you stronger.”
