George Clooney Hosting $6 Million Obama Fundraiser

With his huge amount of wealth and the full backing of the GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney may be heading towards Super PACS millions but President Barack Obama has a secret fundraising weapon of his own, George Clooney.

The A-List actor/director is preparing to hold a 150-seat, $40,000 per plate dinner for President Obama that will bring in $6 million.

The event will be held at George Clooney’s own Los Angeles home and will be co-hosted by Clooney’s close friend Jeffrey Katzenberg, CEO of production studio Dreamworks.

In the meantime President Obama has been approaching the Hollywood elite lately in the hopes of drumming up more support and ultimately more Clooney sized fundraisers. Obama is particularly interested in gaining back support from some of his liberal celebrity supporters who have fallen by the wayside in recent years.

Any money raised at the George Clooney fundraiser will go to the Obama Victory fund, a joint fundraising committee of Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and several state Democratic parites.

According to Clooney in an interview with Entertainment Tonight:

“I’m proud to do whatever I can to support the President—as long as no one asks me to sing,”

Clooney also gave some advice for the Obama Campaign in 2012 when speaking on Meet The Press:

“The Democrats are very poor at explaining what it is when they accomplished something,” while he added that Obama ”saved the auto industry, and he got Osama bin Laden. He passed a health care bill that no one could pass.”
