Tyra Banks Snaps Makeup Free Selfie: Reveals ‘The Real’ Tyra To Fans

Tyra Banks has talked about her image problems in the past, and has championed young girls to see their true beauty. Now, the supermodel and America’s Next Top Model host took it one step further.

Posing makeup free, Tyra Banks decided to take a selfie and post it to Instagram. That said, she didn’t post the photo not without posting an inspiring caption dedicated to her fans.

“You know how people say #nofilter but you know there’s a freakin’ filter on their pic? Or maybe there’s a smidge of retouching going on but they’re lying and saying it’s all raw & real? Well, this morn, I decided to give you a taste of the really real me.”

She continued, “I wanted to smooth out my dark circles so badly!!! But I was like, ‘Naw, Ty. Show ’em the REAL you.’ So… here I am. Raw. And there YOU are… looking at me, studying this picture. Maybe you’re thinking, ‘Whoa, she looks ROUGH.’ And if you are, great! You deserve to see the REAL me. The REALLY real me. #RawAndReal.”

Not only did Tyra pose for the makeup free selfie, but she also posed with a face full of makeup on, so people can see the difference between what she looks like with makeup and what she looks like without.

As stated, this isn’t the first time Tyra Banks has talked openly about self image. She told People magazine about the advice she gives to young women. “I’ve had some of my girls talk about their weight, and I actually talk to them honestly about it… There’s one thing you can do, which is say, ‘You’re great, you’re great, you’re great,’ which makes them feel good in that moment when you’re talking to them.”

Banks continued, “They go back in the crazy world of attacking, or looking in the mirror and not feeling good about themselves. So what I tell my girls is, health is important, and we need to get our shapes in shape – not looking like somebody else.”

Tyra goes back to how she checks back into reality. “A size 16 can be the best shape for you, and you can be healthy. I have a friend who’s a plus-size model, and she’s a size 18. She is fierce, she can bench-press, she can run longer than me. She has not an ounce of cellulite. My butt looks like an orange peel.”
