Bulletstorm 2 Axed By Epic

If you enjoyed Epic Games and People Can Fly’s 2011 foul-mouthed first-person shooter Bulletstorm and were hoping for a sequel, you may not want to hold your breath; according to Epic Games’ Mike Capps, Bulletstorm 2 probably won’t happen anytime soon.

Speaking to GameSpot at PAX East this past weekend, Capps had this to say about a Bulletstorm sequel:

“We thought a lot about a sequel, and had done some initial development on it, but we found a project that we thought was a better fit for People Can Fly,” he said. “We haven’t announced that yet, but we will be announcing it pretty soon.”

That doesn’t mean that Bulletstorm 2 is completely out of the question, however. While People Can Fly are working on another, yet-unannounced project, Capps says that Epic would love to revisit the franchise at some point in the future.

“We thought a lot about a sequel, and had done some initial development on it, but we found a project that we thought was a better fit for People Can Fly,” he said. “We haven’t announced that yet, but we will be announcing it pretty soon.”

Capps also points out the relatively weak sales of Bulletstorm on consoles and PC, implying that played a part in the axing of the sequel. Unsurprisingly, a lot of the blame for poor sales was put on the PC platform, where Capps implies that piracy impacted sales quite a bit. Considering how mind-numbingly terrible the PC port was, the high piracy rate is also unsurprising.

Did you enjoy Bulletstorm? Would you want Epic and People Can Fly to make another at some point, or would you rather they move onto other things?
