Susan Sarandon, Boyfriend Reunite, Ignoring 31-Year Age Gap: Susan, 68, Talks ‘Marilyn Monroe’ Movie [Video]

Susan Sarandon and her boyfriend Jonathan Bricklin are together again and taking a bite out of the Big Apple. Despite the 31-year age gap, the 68-year-old Susan has been with Bricklin for six years, reported the Daily Mail.

But it’s been a somewhat rocky romance. The two co-own an entertainment and ping-pong chain while Susan stays busy with her acting career. Beyond the time commitment, Sarandon revealed that her boyfriend and she share a different type of relationship.

“We don’t live under the same roof. We’re not an ordinary couple. It’s the soul of a person that interests me. When you are in love, the question of age, sex, color no longer hold any importance.”

But Jonathan, with whom Susan hooked up after living with boyfriend Tim Robbins for more than two decades, took a different approach to defining their relationship.

“She’s someone I love more than anyone I’ve ever been with, and that won’t change,” he said. “‘We had a six-year relationship that’s gone through ups and downs. We’re taking some time apart to really refresh.”

And Bricklin blamed others for the temporary split.

“I loved her dating me, and I never felt embarrassed for her dating me. What I felt was, the general public and maybe her family or friends maybe felt that I wasn’t good enough for her.”

For Sarandon, staying topical with her acting career as she ages has meant taking on roles such as mothers rather than playing the fresh young ingenue. And as in her recent role as Marilyn Monroe’s mother, that suits her just fine, reported the Los Angeles Times.

In The Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe, Sarandon portrayed Norma Jean’s mother Gladys Pearl Baker. And she learned about Norma Jean’s transition into Marilyn Monroe as well as the family dynamic as a result.

Playing Gladys meant painting the portrait of a woman so mentally distraught that she could not raise her own daughter. Marilyn Monroe’s mother spent time in mental institutions, hearing voices of people who never existed.

“The thing you worry about is just chewing up the scenery and doing a kind of generalized, generic ‘crazy person,’ ” explained Susan. “So what you have to do is figure out where the voices are, who they are, when they’re heard, what her tics are.”

As for Sarandon’s own “tics”? Having a much younger boyfriend isn’t one of them.

Despite the fact that Jonathan said they were split, Susan has been observed bonding with her boyfriend again, a source told Us Weekly.

“They seemed very much in love,” said the insider. “There is a real bond between them…. She introduced him to me as her boyfriend.”

And except for Sarandon saying that her boyfriend and she are separated, they remain close friends, added the source.

“Their relationship is pretty much the same as it always was, beyond the fact that they said they split up, they still hang out all the time and hook up.”

Sarandon’s relationship with her much younger boyfriend isn’t the only one currently baffling some followers of celebrity romances.

As the Inquisitr reported, Tom Cruise’s crush on a Katie Holmes doppelganger is sending shock waves through his fan base. Cruise, now 52, is dating a 22-year-old production assistant named Emily, who looks as if she’s channeling Katie. To put it in context, the PA and Bella (daughter of Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise, who was adopted when Nicole and Tom were married) are the same age.
