Judge Rescues Blind Pug And They Are An Amazing Pair [Video]

People often say that justice is blind. But in this case, the judge’s canine companion is blind. Mikey the pug arrived at the Michigan Humane Society (MHS) in bad shape. He suffered from demodectic mange and glaucoma. Unfortunately, he was in extreme pain from the glaucoma and blind, according to the Huffington Post.

The veterinarians at MHS decided for Mikey’ health and so that he would no longer suffer, they had to remove his eyes. He fully recovered by March, and with the help of Michigan Pug Rescue, found a great home. He was adopted by Sabrina Johnson, the District Judge for Inkster, Michigan. The 2-year-old pug is Johnson’s sidekick.

He accompanies Johnson all over–even to work. She said that he quickly learns his environment and rarely bumps into things. He shakes things off if he does have a setback. In fact, the Judge said Mikey is pretty irresistible to all who meet the spunky little guy, and she stated the following according to Little Things.

“I got him from rescue, and he really rescued me. He’s just the love of my life….When people meet him, they melt. I’ve seen very tough police officers just get down on their hands and knees, just play with him. He brightens everyone’s day….Sometimes when we’re walking in the park, he’ll get going and run into a tree. He simply backs up, shakes it off and keeps moving. He really has taught me about how to live life.”

Of course, Johnson deals with serious cases in her job. But Mikey obviously brightens her day and makes everything worthwhile. Often, when someone rescues an animal, the animal can be said to also rescue the adopter–and gives more back than it receives. It seems that’s the case with the adorable, charismatic Mikey. And the pair are well-matched. The judge stated that “[Mikey] loves to run, he loves to eat, and he loves to relax. So he’s a lot like me.”

Another rescued animal, a cat named Matilda, is going viral on social media. Like Mikey, she is, unfortunately blind due to an eye condition. But she is no less loved and is perfect to her owners. Because of her oversized eyes, Matilda is called the alien-looking cat. She’s taking over the cosmos. Well, maybe just social media, as she has over 30,000 Instagram followers already, according to an article in the Inquisitr.
