One Direction Staying Together Despite Recent Rumors, But Will Take On Solo Projects

One Direction has been in a seemingly endless rumor mill since the departure of Zayn Malik earlier year. Yet, despite more recent speculations of the band breaking up, it’s just not so.

People reports that the four remaining members of One Direction are not only staying together, but a few of them will work on their own individual projects, similar to award-winning rock band, The Rolling Stones. A representative for the group recently added that fans have no need to worry.

“The boys know that by sticking together they can still pursue everything they want to do as a foursome, as well as individually. And there’s no reason why they can’t have lifetime careers both as a group and working on their own solo projects – just like the Stones.”

The rumors of the band’s demise surfaced again after a June promotion, sponsored by Honda, offered “Buy 2 Tickets and Get 2, getting 50% off a purchase of four tickets” for the band’s North American leg of the concert.

However, the promotion, which ended on June 4, is standard for numerous acts who tour, and in no way reflects low ticket sales.

Low ticket sales rumors arose after the promotion, but One Direction have already sold out their UK tour, and ticket sales are still impressive for their upcoming shows, which may still sell out in the future. In many instances, tickets are purchased once the concert dates get closer.

A representative for the band says that the boys are doing just fine with sales, and despite rumors, no concert dates will be canceled.

“This promotion was part of the Honda tour sponsorship deal. All artists offer ticket promotions for fans, so there is no story here. One Direction have phenomenally sold over 2 million concert tickets on this tour already.”

Along with continuing on with the band, some of the boys plan to work on solo projects. Harry Styles is slated to tap into acting projects, while Louis Tomlinson will work on his new record label that he launched earlier this year.

Meanwhile, as a group, One Direction are currently working on their fifth studio album, which is slated for release at the end of the year. Although there is no information as to whether a fifth tour is in store for the boys, Styles recently indicated that working on the fifth album is fun and inspiring, although the group misses Zayn and what his vocals brought to past albums.

“It’s definitely been fun for us writing to see what’s been different, just kind of naturally. The creative process … was very similar to be honest, but it was cool how some of the things came out sounding, because obviously there’s a lot of parts that used to get written with Zayn in mind.”

One Direction kicks off the North American leg of their On the Road Again (OTRA) tour on July 9, where they’ll perform at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium.
