Los Angeles Dodgers Trade Rumors: Bryce Harper Deal In Future For Dodgers?

Los Angeles Dodgers trade rumors suggest a definite interest in Bryce Harper. Though a trade between the Dodgers and Washington Nationals isn’t likely to take place soon (if ever), the topic has now come up as Harper gets closer to walking into free agency. A report from the Los Angeles Times on Saturday (June 13) talks about how the Dodgers would have the money to offer Harper, that the team has a nice Minor League system going, and that he would be closer to his Las Vegas home. All could be good reasons for Harper to want to play for the Dodgers.

The reason the Los Angeles Times even wrote an article about Harper going to the Dodgers was because of a piece that ESPN.com posted about the New York Yankees. It relayed the Yankees becoming an inevitability for one of the most exciting players in Major League Baseball. A recent visit of the Nationals to New York yielded fans who were cheering for Harper to sign with the team for the 2019 MLB season. It had to be odd for a player who is still under team control in Washington to hear chants like that, but Harper has enough confidence in himself that he may feel he deserves it.

It’s very important to point out that Bryce Harper is under team control with the Washington Nationals through the 2018 MLB season. It means that even after the 2015 World Series plays out, the Nationals could have him for at least three more seasons. Enter the prospects of a Los Angeles Dodgers trade because the franchise would certainly love to get him before the team control runs out. Now there are no negotiations ongoing, nor should there be if the front office in Washington knows what it is doing. However, at some point, if it seems that Harper is going to leave in free agency without signing a contract extension, the team might just need to trade him first.

As previously reported on the Inquisitr, Bryce Harper is putting together a special 2015 MLB season, causing him to currently lead the All-Star voting. He is a popular player already, but it hasn’t gone unnoticed that the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees can offer him a bigger market in which to thrive. It’s also possible that the Washington Nationals are willing to overpay to keep him on the roster, thus guaranteeing that he doesn’t hit free agency in the 2018 MLB offseason.

It may seem really early for these Los Angeles Dodgers trade rumors to be surfacing, but that’s what happens when there is a huge business side to the game. It’s safe to assume that the Dodgers will place calls to the front office in Washington, but what isn’t known is whether or not the phone gets answered.
