‘Crimson Peak’ 2015: Seven Things To Look Forward To In The Tom Hiddleston And Charlie Hunnam Thriller

Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming gothic horror film, Crimson Peak, promises to deliver something new and unique from the acclaimed director. The movie centers on Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston) and his newlywed wife Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) as they move into Sharpe’s eerie childhood residence.

The movie stars Jessica Chastain as Sharpe’s sister, Lucille, and Charlie Hunnam as Dr. Alan McMichael. Besides the cast members and main premise of the story, which includes a fair share of the supernatural, little else is known about the movie. With a series of photos and trailers from Bustle to go on, what can we expect in the coming film?

One major part of the movie is going to be the old mansion that Sharpe and his bride move into. Both trailers feature the mansion extensively, and del Toro’s team did a great job making it look very gothic and dark. Additionally, according to What Culture, the house will feature some human-like characteristics, which will definitely up the creepiness factor.

Meanwhile, del Toro will bring some of his own flair for originality to the screen in regards to supernatural creatures. We do know the movie will include ghosts, and given del Toro’s past treatment of monsters, his ghosts will likely be very different than anything we’ve seen.

In regards to the Crimson Peak storyline, while del Toro has largely kept things under wraps, he has revealed that his female characters will play a large role in the film. Lucille will likely have an important part in the movie, especially with the trailers showing her creeping around the house and even spying of Sharpe and his new wife having sex.

At the same time, part of the uniqueness of this film will revolve around the time period. The film will feature a number of period costumes that will surely add a lot of accuracy and give the movie an authentic feel.

Speaking of drawing from the past, del Toro was raised on classic gothic and horror stories, which will undoubtedly come through on Crimson Peak. If del Toro does draw from these past works, it should add some depth to the story and provide it will some unconventional twists.

Although Crimson Peak is a gothic romance, del Toro has been known to be more reserved when it comes to sex scenes. However, it is yet to be seen if the coming film sees del Toro breaking away from his old habits. If the scenes from the trailers are of any indication, then it’s possibly we might see a little more flesh in this one.

Lastly, perhaps the film’s greatest strength will be in its main character, played by Hiddleston. In the trailers, Hiddleston seems to have the perfect balance between ultra creepy and sexy, making Crimson Peak one film fans won’t want to miss.
