Prince Carl Philip & Sofia Set To Marry This Weekend: Sofia Hellqvist Will Become A Princess
Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist are set to wed this weekend, officially making the former topless model a princess. According to the Mail Online, the couple will tie the knot at the Chapel Royal of the Sveriges Kungahus on Saturday. Sofia, 30, and her Prince, 36, are celebrating tonight on board the M/S Stockholm yacht.

The lavish party is being attended by many royal family members including Carl Philip’s parents, King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, Prince Daniel, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway. Sofia’s family, including her parents, Marie and Erik Hellqvist, and her two sisters, Vater Erik and Lina, and their significant others, were also seen getting on the boat.
Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist seem to be more in love than ever before. They have dated for the past five years but only recently decided that they wanted to get married. They became engaged in October, but, as previously reported by the Inquisitr, the couple made their intent to marry official last month by participating in the traditional ceremonial reading of the banns of marriage.
The couple’s wedding is already being compared to that of Prince William and Kate Middleton, and some believe that it will be even bigger. It will be televised in many countries and is expected to be elegant, classic, and traditional.
According to People Magazine, a red carpet was rolled out for guests of Friday night’s pre-wedding celebration. Sofia chose a baby blue gown by designer Zuhair Murad for the event, and she looked absolutely radiant. When asked by the press how she was feeling, Sofia shouted, “Fantastic!”
All eyes will be on Prince Carl Philip’s bride, Sofia Hellqvist, tomorrow. Everyone wants to know what she’s going to wear and how she’s going to look. Although there isn’t as much attention on her as Kate Middleton, people are still curious about the Swedish royal family, and this wedding is a pretty big deal.
“[Sofia’s parents] are ordinary people, but they are happy that their daughter has found a man whom she loves so much and who loves her equally much. I think they are proud of the situation,” said Svenska Damtidning‘s royals reporter Margareta Gotthardsson.
