Nick Jonas Takes Stand for LGBT Community: Fans Elated With Iggy Azalea Out And Nick Jonas In

Nick Jonas is used to changing his plans after an Iggy Azalea cancellation, after he lost his spot as the opening act for Iggy Azalea when she cancelled her Great Escape arena tour earlier this year.

As Billboard reported, after Iggy Azalea announced the postponement of her tour, Nick Jonas and fellow opening act Tinashe withdrew from the gig altogether, announcing that they would not rejoin the tour when it was rescheduled for September. Both artists decided to go ahead with solo tours instead.

Although Nick Jonas lost shows following the tour cancellation, as Perez Hilton noted, it could also be said that Iggy Azalea’s tour cancellation actually helped Nick Jonas, pushing him to take the big step towards launching his solo career.

Nick Jonas has received another unintentional career push from Iggy Azalea today, as he has stepped forward to take Iggy Azalea’s place at Pittsburgh Pride. The Delta Foundation, the organisers of Pittsburgh Pride, made the announcement on Wednesday that Iggy Azalea’s appearance had been cancelled, and, according to Delta Foundation President Gary Van Horn, Nick Jonas soon phoned the organizers of the festival to offer his services in place of Iggy Azalea.

Nick Jonas is fairly active on social media – Twitter in particular – so we wonder whether he got the idea to approach the organisers of Pittsburgh Pride after a couple of fans tweeted him, suggesting he put his hand up to fill the open space.

However it came about, as Perez Hilton reported, Nick Jonas then followed up with a public statement to confirm.

“When I heard about the difficult position Pittsburgh Pride was in just days before their event, I knew I had to find a way to help. I’m excited to do what I can to support the LGBT community in Pittsburgh, and I look forward to seeing you this Saturday as we celebrate together.”

The Delta Foundation changed its banners, made the announcements on social media, and the deal was done.

Suffice it to say, fans are not at all disappointed that Nick Jonas will be appearing instead of Iggy Azalea.

Things don’t seem to be going so well for Iggy Azalea lately, but it’s safe to say that Nick Jonas is going from strength to strength, and his fans are following him every step of the way.
