Christopher Lee Dead At 93, Social Media Reacts

News that legendary actor, Sir Christopher Lee has died at 93-years-old hit the Internet on a quiet Thursday morning, and reactions are beginning to pour in.

Lee — who is mostly known for playing Count Dracula — was active until the end and we last saw him reprising his role from The Lord of the Rings, Saruman, in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. Additionally, Lee was a musician and had even released some music recently, as previously reported by the Inquisitr.

His career spanned an incredible eight decades beginning in the late 1940s, and as a result he has one of the most prolific filmographies in history, with more than 280 credits for television and the silver screen to his name. The news of Christopher Lee’s death was released by his family on Thursday.

According to Screen Daily, the veteran actor died on Sunday, June 7 at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London following respiratory problems and heart failure. The reason for postponing the release of the news of Christopher Lee’s death was due to his wife of 50-years, who desired to inform all of his close family first.

Social media has been reacting to the news of Christopher Lee’s death all morning. Many admirers in Europe, famous and every day users, are expressing their condolences and admiration.

Aside from making Dracula, which he played in several of the popular Hammer Horror films, Christopher Lee also notoriously starred in other high profile films, including as the James Bond villain, Scaramanga, in The Man With The Golden Gun (1974), and more recently Saruman in The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, which thrilled fans. He also featured in the final two of the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

In true Christopher Lee style, one last film, Angels in Notting Hill, is yet to be released.
