WWE News: Brock Lesnar Vs. The Rock Now Set For ‘WrestleMania 32’?

Since the June 1 edition of the Stone Cold Podcast, a match between Brock Lesnar and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin at WrestleMania 32 has been all the rage in the wrestling world. But, unfortunately, it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.

Earlier this week, Austin shot down the idea of a match between himself and Lesnar on his podcast. Also, Paul Heyman appeared on Chael Sonnen’s podcast on Wednesday, and said that it’s extremely unlikely that Austin will face Lesnar at next year’s WrestleMania. So, with Austin out of the picture, WWE is lacking the one true super-match that would ensure that WrestleMania 32 will be the biggest wrestling show in history. Or, are they?

Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer has reported that WWE may be looking to go to Brock Lesnar vs. The Rock at next year’s WrestleMania, which would mean that the match between Triple H and The Rock would be scrapped. But, with WWE trying to fill AT&T Stadium with 100,000 people next year, they need to have something that is truly special on the card, and the feeling is that Triple H vs. The Rock wouldn’t feel that special or must-see.

“Right now they’ve got no ideas on something that would be on the [Austin vs. Lesnar] level. Who knows what’s going to happen with the Ronda [Rousey] thing? No one knows that one. But that was one of the ideas. So, right now you’ve just got The Rock vs. Triple H, but, I just know that when they did that first angle I thought to myself ‘The Rock is really going to come back to face Triple H?’ But he is. It may end up being Rock vs. Brock, because — at one point — that was the plan.”

WWE has been trying to do The Rock vs. Brock Lesnar ever since Lesnar returned to WWE in 2012. Unfortunately, due to injuries and schedules, the match hasn’t been able to happen. But, with The Rock already planning on wrestling at next year’s WrestleMania, the match could end up happening then.

There have been rumors of Brock Lesnar having a rematch with Roman Reigns at next year’s WrestleMania because WWE really wants to have Reigns be the one to finally beat “The Beast.” But, with WWE trying to pack AT&T Stadium with 100,000 people, Rock vs. Brock Lesnar may end up being the go-to match instead of Lesnar vs. Reigns.
