WWE News: Vince McMahon Unhappy With Steve Austin And Paul Heyman Podcast, Wants The Idea Of Austin Vs. Brock Lesnar To Go Away

Over the past week or so — despite Steve Austin saying that he doesn’t plan on wrestling Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 32 on his latest podcast — WWE fans have really started to believe that the “Texas Rattlesnake” will be returning to the ring next spring. This is, of course, because of what Austin and Paul Heyman did on the June 1 Stone Cold Podcast on the WWE Network.

WWE Chairman Vince McMahon apparently didn’t know that Austin and Heyman were going to do what they did, which isn’t surprising because neither did Austin, as it was just a spur-of-the-moment thing. That said, McMahon didn’t like what Austin and Heyman did, mostly because McMahon doesn’t believe that Austin will ever return to the ring. Furthermore, McMahon wants the story to go away as quickly as possible, according to the Wrestling Observer.

“Vince did not know Heyman and Austin were going to do the bit they did and immediately felt they were creating major interest in a match that was not happening. There was reportedly some sort of discussion between Austin and Vince after the podcast where Vince wanted the story to go away quickly and quietly with Austin addressing it once and then moving on.”

The WWE website didn’t help McMahon’s cause, because just a few days after the podcast, they put a poll asking WWE fans who they would support in a match between “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Brock Lesnar.

It’s been rumored for some time now that Austin will wrestle at next year’s WrestleMania in his home-state of Texas, but every time Austin is asked about it, he says that he doesn’t plan on ever wrestling again, nor does he have the desire to. Some people look at that and think that Austin is just trying to “work” the fans, so when he does come back it’ll be a big deal. But, Austin has stuck to everything he’s said about never returning to the ring since he retired in 2003, and if he doesn’t return at WrestleMania 32, chances are he never will.

Austin has said that he will be at next year’s WrestleMania in Dallas, but no one knows what his role will be. If he doesn’t wrestle, chances are that WWE will try to get him on the show due to Texas being his home-state. There’s a possibility that if WWE can’t think of anything for Austin to do, they could just make him the host of WrestleMania 32.
