Howard Stern Takes On Twitter


Howard Stern TwitterThe self-declared “king of all media” has decided to give social media a whirl. Howard Stern announced the launch of a Twitter profile on his show today. The Howard Stern Twitter account will provide behind-the-scenes details of the Sirius broadcast, Stern says.

The account, at http://twitter.com/sternshow, has about 5200 followers as of this posting. The updates from Thursday morning (the first day any tweets were sent) aren’t exactly enlightening, though. Thus far, Howard Stern’s Twitter account has updates such as:

“Robin is doing the news”

“Playing the Gossip Game”

“Howard is talking to his movie wife Mary McCormack”

As of now, Howard Stern’s Twitter account is not following any other Twitter profiles.

    This is Quite pathetic and Hypocritical as Howard stern used to Bash things like Myspace,facebook,Twitter…

    any community that shows what other people are doing 24 hours basicly.

    Its really Sad.

    Howard was reluctant to does this since he hates facebook, but his marketing team set one up so fans could follow the show when they are unable to listen. Howard doesn't write the page himself, Fred I think is the one that updates it.

    Howard Stern gets a bad rap, but I have heard him argue some great points and conduct some interesting interviews. And from a business standpoint he has done what nobody else in radio could. I think his is an interesting case study, and Stern Show going on twitter shows how social media is shaping how information sharing in major and minute ways. I think its interesting stuff, but its not for everyone I'm sure, just like the Stern show is DEFINITLY not for everyone! :)
