Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Mysterious Career Change: No More Movies?

Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared on Australia’s KIIS 1065 Kyle and Jackie O Show earlier today, June 9, 2015, as part of his promotional tour for his new movie Terminator Genisys.

After the perfunctory conversation about the new movie, the conversation turned to Arnold Schwarzenegger’s career – past, present, and future. And Arnold Schwarzenegger gave away some cryptic clues about his career plans for the future.

Speaking about his years spent as Governor of California, Australian radio personality Kyle Sandilands asked Arnold Schwarzenegger “Were you just waiting to get back into the films, though?”

Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed how his time in politics overshadowed his movie career at the time.

“When you are Governor, you are so consumed with being a public servant and doing the people’s work, that you don’t even think about doing movies… When you run a state that is kind of like the sixth largest economy in the world, you have your hands full from morning to night, and it was great to switch to do something different. But then when I was finished with that I was so delighted to start doing movies again.”

Prompted to reminisce about his former bodybuilding career, Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke fondly about every aspect of his career so far.

“That’s what’s so great about my life. For ten years I am like an athlete, I am competing in bodybuilding and weightlifting and powerlifting… And then I get into the movie business and then I work my way up to become a leading man, and then I step over to politics to run the state of California.”

Radio personality Jackie ‘O’ Henderson asked Arnold Schwarzenegger to comment on his favourite part of his multifaceted career, and his response is one that probably surprised and possibly even disappointed his movie fans.

“I don’t think there’s a favourite. I think the biggest responsibility that I had was as Governor because you’re really dealing with people’s lives and your responsibility in government always is to make people’s lives better, and to protect people’s health and to protect people in general… I was passionate about all three of those things. I tell you, in all seriousness, there is nothing like giving something back to your state or to your country, and I think that everyone has a responsibility to do that… We all have to go and do whatever we can to make this a better world than we inherited, that’s what it’s all about.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger was then asked “Do you have one more thing that you’d like to tick off?” and this is where he gave his cryptic answer about his plans for the future.

Now I’d like to create a synergy where I put all those things together, where I promote health and fitness (I’m on a fitness crusade), I’m promoting good environment, clean environment, renewable energy, a green energy future, and I’m into doing movies and entertaining people. So I’m involved in all of these things and try to kind of pull all of those things together.”

What does all this mean? Is Arnold Schwarzenegger planning on creating a Hollywood blockbuster movie which promotes health, fitness, and renewable energy?

There is no doubt that Arnold Schwarzenegger is pushing his clean agenda, speaking to Australia’s The Project about the importance of cutting carbon emissions, even while he was supposed to be discussing his latest film, Terminator Genisys.

Arnold Schwarzenegger also seems to have embraced technology recently, becoming particularly active on Twitter and Snapchat, much to the delight of his fans.

And while we’re on the topic of Arnold Schwarzenegger, just in case you missed it, check out this video, in which he acts out snippets from all of his major movies in just six minutes. It’s ridiculously good.
