National Best Friend Day Celebrated: 5 BFFs You Probably Didn’t Realize Even Knew Each Other


Best friends across the globe are being encouraged to share their love for their closest pals on Monday June 8 in recognition of National Best Friend Day.

In honor of this celebration, tombola, via Metro, have created various surveys that commemorate the day. These include figures that revealed 54 percent of people would inform their best friend if they didn’t like their new haircut, while 58 percent revealed that they tell their closest chum if they’d put on weight.

It was also revealed that the average adult in the United Kingdom has 3.7 close friends, while many people in the country state that their best friend is one of their parents.

It’s also been stated the one key component of having a best friend is loyalty. This is especially hard in the celebrity world, where actors, actresses, musicians, and individuals from all different facets of pop culture have to go to great lengths to reach their goal.

But which individuals have been able to stay loyal to their closest pals, while also reaching the height of fame? Here are 5 best friends that you probably didn’t even know were close.

Jon Hamm & Paul Rudd

The Mad Men and Ant-Man actors have been friends since the late 1980s, after Paul Rudd attended Kansas University with Hamm’s high-school girlfriend’s older brother. The girlfriend at the time also just happened to be Scrubs actress Sarah Chalke.

The pair originally bonded over their love of comedy, and they even conducted a hilarious interview with Interview magazine that showcased their patter, and is a must read. When Hamm originally moved to L.A., he even stayed with Rudd in what he has insisted was a terrible apartment.

Demi Lovato & Kim Kardashian

The singer and reality television star became pals back in 2011, with Lovato stating that she and Kardashian originally became close when she was in rehab for emotional and physical issues.

In fact, Lovato called Kim one of her best friends, while at a party in 2012, Kim wrote a note for Kim that stated to Demi, “thank you for always being a true friend, for always following your heart and for being an inspiration to me and countless other girls around the world.”

Matthew McConaughey & Lance Armstrong

The two Texans have been close friends for a number of years. However, that doesn’t mean that the actor wasn’t furious with the cyclist for concealing the doping scandal that will define his career. Back in April, 2013, McConaughey admitted that he was originally shocked and upset with Armstrong for his efforts.

However, he has since forgiven him, and in fact, via Us Magazine, he’s even “happy for him now because despite all this outside conflict, he doesn’t have this inner conflict anymore.”

David Beckham & Snoop Dogg

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid player and hip hop star became friends when Beckham moved to L.A. Galaxy, and Snoop Dogg extended his hand in friendship to the rapper.

In fact, Beckham has even appeared on Snoop Dogg’s reality TV show, and the two are even believed to have played soccer with each other, via Daily Mail, and their children.

Mel Gibson & Britney Spears

This is probably the most bizarre friendship of the lot. Apparently, the 59-year-old actor and the pop singer vacationed together in Costa Rica, alongside his wife and her father. A source told People, “They’re just going away for a few days to relax,” and they stayed at Gibson’s home in the country.

Gibson and Spears used to be neighbors, while Gibson originally reached out to her after she was hospitalized in February, 2008.
