Jim Irsay Says Robert Griffin III Turned Down Invitation To Work Out For Colts

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay on Tuesday claimed that Baylor heisman trophy winning quarterback Robert Griffin III turned down an invitation to work out with the Indianapolis Colts.

In a statement that all but confirms that Stanford star Andrew Luck will become the teams new starting quarterback Irsay took to Twitter to tweet:

“A Luck private workout 2day..we want 2b as thorough n disciplined n process of #1 pick..we wanted 2do private with RG3,but his agent said no.”

Luck worked out with the Indianapolis Colts on Tuesday in Indianapolis and he is widely expected to be the 2012 NFL Draft No. 1 pick on April 26.

After Irsay announced Griffin’s refusal to practice with the Colts it was revealed that RGIII has chosen not to work out for any team which better explains the outright refusal to practice for the team with the No. 1 NFL draft pick.

In the last several weeks Jim Irsay has stood behind his statement that the Colts are still not firmly decided on choosing Andrew Luck as their No. 1 draft pick. Some analysts in the meantime are standing behind RGIII, claiming that his rare athletic abilities give him an edge over Andrew Luck.

In the meantime the Washington Redskins haven’t requested a private workout with Robert Griffin III, however the teams staff was in attendance when he held his Pro Day workout at Baylor two weeks ago.

In all likelihood Andrew Luck will end up with the Indianapolis Colts come 2012 NFL Draft day but Irsay will likely continue to leave people guessing right up until the last moment.
