Robert Pattinson will be hanging up his fangs soon but the “Twilight” star isn’t having any problem finding work. Pattinson has already landed a role in David Cronenberg drama “Cosmopolis” and will soon star as Georges Duroy in “Bel Ami.”
“Bel Ami,” an adaptation of Guy de Maupassant’s novel, tells the story of Georges Duroy, a poor soldier who aims to better his place in society. Duroy (Pattinson) starts seducing the wives of the most powerful men in the city in an attempt to sleep his way to the top. Pattinson’s plan only brings him so far, however, and eventually he’ll have to face the consequences.
Here’s the synopsis from IMDB:
“A chronicle of a young man’s rise to power in Paris via his manipulation of the city’s most influential and wealthy women.”
Those rich women are played by Uma Thurman, Christina Ricci, and Kristin Scott Thomas.
Pattinson earned throngs of female fans from the Twilight movies but he may not see the same effect with “Bel Ami.”
“It’s such a strange story and I don’t play a very nice character. But that’s the whole point. He’s supposed to be the bad guy.”
Here’s the trailer for “Bel Ami.”
