Fans of comedy sequels should be ecstatic. It was recently announced that Will Ferrell was working on “Anchorman 2” and now Peter Farrelly has confirmed that filming on “Dumb and Dumber 2” would start sometime this year. And unlike the classic movie’s prequel, “Dumb and Dumberer,” this movie will bring back both Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels.
Farrelly, who is currently doing a press tour to promote his new movie “The Three Stooges,” said:
“We’re getting set to shoot Dumb and Dumber 2 in September. It’s the first sequel we’ve ever done… And we’ve got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back.”
Farrelly said that he has always wanted to do a sequel to the classic 1994 movie and made sure to mention to Comingsoon.net that he had nothing to do with the 2003 prequel, “Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd.”
“We did not do “Dumb and Dumberer”… That was a studio thing. So we’ve always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, ‘We’ve got to do this thing again.’ He had just watched Dumb and Dumber and he said, ‘This is the perfect sequel. Let’s do it.'”
Carrey and Daniels have both come a long way since the idiotic best friends they portrayed in “Dumb and Dumber.” Carrey has won two Golden Globes and has starred in movies like “Man On The Moon,” “The Truman Show,” and “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” He’s partner in crime, Jeff Daniels, has also stayed away from slapstick for awhile.
