Sam Smith Able To Speak At Long Last With Cancelled Tour Dates Rescheduled

After undergoing every singer’s worst nightmare, 23-year-old Sam Smith is ready to hit stages once more after suffering from bleeding vocal chords due to a dangerous haemorrhage in the throat. Smith, elated to be back on the road and performing again, posted to Instagram a still from the Disney movie The Little Mermaid in which Ariel receives the ability to speak — an obvious parallel to Sam’s recent experiences. Smith’s post sported the caption “I CAN SPEAK AGAIN!!!!!!!!”

The four-time Grammy-winning performer has made a full recovery from his injury and has already begun rescheduling cancelled April tour dates across Australia, including Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane. Smith’s new tour will begin late November and continue on throughout December.

“Australia, I am so so happy to finally have some good news for you,” Sam revealed yesterday, “I can now announce that my cancelled In The Lonely Hour tour dates have been rescheduled!”

British-born Smith made an effort to publicly thank the doctor responsible for treating his illness in the U.S during the dark period in the singer’s career, posting a photo of Dr. Zeitels with a heartfelt expression of gratitude.

“Thank you so much Doctor Zeitels for everything. You have truly saved me this past few months. Such an amazing man. You truly truly, truly don’t know what you got until you lose it.”

The illness, caused by “unstable blood vessels in the vocal cord that can rupture,” prevented Sam from attending the Billboard Music Awards, where he won three separate awards. In a bid to tackle the situation, Smith remotely accepted the award for Best Male Artist offering his thanks via video, using cue cards reminiscent of the 2003 classic Love Actually.

Not one to forget the support he has received from fans, Sam’s excitement and gratitude were palpable over social media as he responded to those that stuck by him despite his cancelled tour dates.

Smith addressed his patient fanbase directly in a statement, saying, “I’m unbelievably excited to get back onstage and perform for you all again, and I promise it will be so much better than it would have been before when my voice was damaged. The past few months have been incredibly difficult, but the support, love and patience my fans have shown me is absolutely unreal. I am so grateful to every one of you. I can’t wait to see you all.”
