Arrested Man Chews Through Seat Belt In Police Car Because He Didn’t Want To Miss Son’s Birthday

An arrested man chewed through a seat belt in a police car because he didn’t want to miss his son’s birthday. NBC 5 reports that Lashon Stuckey, 33, was arrested Monday afternoon in Chicago and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of criminal damage to property.

Police say Stuckey was caught in a suspected narcotics transaction and was arrested in the 200 block of South Western Avenue. Several bags of heroin were discovered in his possession during the arrest. When Stuckey was placed inside the squad car he managed to chew right through the vehicle’s seat belt. The 33-year-old told cops that he didn’t want to miss his son’s birthday party.

Huffington Post reveals that although the arrested man told police he chewed through the seat belt so he could go to his son’s birthday party, they didn’t grant him his wishes.

Stuckey reportedly appeared in bond court Tuesday and was held in lieu of $75,000 bail.

NBC 4 in Los Angeles reported on another man who attempted to escape a police squad car when he kicked out the window and window frame. He would have made it out of the car except he was still belted in the back seat. Unlike Stuckey, Israel Berumen, 32, didn’t think about getting out of the seat belt. Neither one of them made it, however.

Berumen was arrested on charges of being under the influence of drugs and trespassing, according to the report. He was also charged with vandalism after kicking the squad car window, which happened at the end of 2014.

According to NBC DFW, last April, a man high on marijuana did succeed in escaping a police car, but he doesn’t recall how he did it. The suspect held on burglary charges, Jarrad Jackson, 32, spoke with the news source about the incident. He said he was feeling claustrophobic and needed some air in the back seat.

“I asked the female officer to roll down the window in the back. I’m handcuffed, it feels like it’s getting closed in so I asked her to roll down the window. I stick my head out and all I remember is my whole body going out,” Jackson said, adding, “I really don’t remember what happened. This is a case of me smoking marijuana; bad marijuana. But I’m somehow, some way, finding myself [able] to get out of that car, moving, handcuffed? That’s crazy.”

All of these instances — in addition to the arrested man chewing through a police car seat belt — are bizarre and proved unsuccessful in the end.
