Sun Young Yoo Wins After I.K. Kim Misses Two-Foot Putt

I.K. Kim could have clinched the Kraft Nabisco Championship by making a two-foot putt on the 18th hole. But Kim missed and was forced to go into a tie-breaking playoff with Sun Young Yoo.

Yoo birdied the hole by hitting an 18-foot putt and took the victory.

“I thought I had no chance because I.K. was going to make the putt.”

Kim was also a little shocked that she missed the putt. Kim said:

“I don’t know, sometimes things happen, and it’s kind of tough because it’s Nabisco… Hopefully I’ll have better or more chances.”

My Desert reports that Yani Tseng, Karin sjodin, and Hee-Kyunk Seo all had a chance at winning the Dinah Shore Trophy. Yoo and Kim finished the final day with a 69 to come in 9 under 279, one stroke better than Tseng.

Yoo is only the second Korean born player to win the Kraft Nabisco title. Grace Park, who won in 2004, is the only other Korean player to win the tittle.

Yoo said:

“I didn’t think about winning today because I didn’t want to expect too much, and I didn’t want to let myself down. But I think I did better than I was thinking, so I’m very happy.”

This weekend’s tournament was the first major of the LPGA Tour. It was Yoo’s second career LPGA tour victory.
