‘Vanity Fair’s New Star Gets Blame From Trans Community

Vanity Fair‘s latest cover with Caitlyn Jenner’s transition on it got ex-Bruce incredible amount of supporters from all over the world in no time.

The touching story about Caitlyn’s realization of her inner self and her decision to change was recently described in the Inquisitr:

“When Caitlyn Jenner, formerly Bruce Jenner, announced to Diane Sawyer that she would be transitioning into a female, she revealed she had felt female since she was young. She also claimed she revealed the news of her desire to be a woman to her second wife, Linda Thompson, a short time before they split. She also addressed the issue with first wife Krystie and third wife Kris.”

However, publication in Vanity Fair didn’t solely bring Jenner supporters. True, many people from trans community were excited about gaining such a powerful ally – in the past Jenner obtained the gold medal at Olympics, and remains to be a very popular person even until now. Her authority as a celebrity could help many other transgender people with their coming out.

Other representatives of the community do not show particular satisfaction. In their opinion, Caitlyn could make so much more if she committed the transition earlier – or if she stopped using male pronouns since her actual coming out in April.

According to the Guardian, some people’s criticisms are pretty harsh.

“Janetta Johnson, a black trans woman who works with TGI Justice, an advocacy group for transgender prisoners and their families, said that the lack of recognition on Jenner’s part of the hard work that had gone into trying to end confusion over gender pronouns was regrettable. ‘For her to come out as a trans woman and say ‘Oh, please keep calling me “he”‘ – I think she may have set us back.'”

Johnson said she now wanted to see Jenner give back to the trans community some of what she had taken.

“Jenner’s a rich white b***h – she can pay for everything she needs. But I think she now needs to put some of that money back into the transgender community as she has taken a lot. All these years we have been abused and battered, yet she has used none of her power to help the community and bring about change.”

Some people just tend to forget that publicity brings not only privileges, but pressure as well. And, actually, it’s quite a brave step to accept yourself, no matter how early or late you do it. So the new cover model of the Vanity Fair might not deserve all the blame she gets.
