Lori Loughlin Discusses Her Co-Star John Stamos, Fans’ Obsession With Uncle Jesse & Aunt Becky
Lori Loughlin may have been married to designer Mossimo Giannulli for the last 16 years, but that hasn’t stopped fans of Full House from hassling her about marrying John Stamos.
For years, Lori Loughlin was known as the character Aunt Becky on Full House, and was dating and then married John Stamos’ character Uncle Jesse. However, while she managed to avoid an on-set romance, many fans of the show have been rooting for Loughlin and Stamos to wed, and she credits the issue to their obsession with the characters.
During a June 3 interview with PEOPLE Magazine, Lori Loughlin addressed the issue.
“It’s caught me off guard lately. John and I had so much fun together, but even I am like, why are people so obsessed with these two?”
Lori Loughlin claimed fans of the show are so obsessed with her and Stamos’ relationship, both on-screen and off, that a dental technician once confronted her daughter, Olivia, with her desire for Loughlin and Stamos to wed.
“Oh my God, I really wish she would have married John Stamos,” the technician told Olivia.
“And Olivia was like, ‘Does she realize what she just said to me?’ I see how much people really want to believe that we existed.”
Lori Loughlin claimed she often deals with aggressive fans online who don’t understand why she’s married to Giannulli, when she and Stamos had such chemistry on the show. In fact, she gets so many comments when she shares photos of her real-life husband, Giannulli, that she keeps her private photos to a minimum.
“I don’t post many pictures of my own husband on Instagram because every time I do, I get a bunch of comments saying, ‘You should have married John Stamos.'”
Although the issue is likely a bit irksome to Lori Loughlin, especially so long after the show and so many years into her marriage, she doesn’t hold a grudge and claimed she’s “flattered” that fans have such strong feelings in regard to her and Stamos’ characters’ relationship.
“Maybe we represented some kind of idyllic couple. As my daughters always say, ‘goals.’ Like Jesse and Becky are ‘goals.’ That’s nice.”
As the Inquisitr previously reported, Lori Loughlin will soon reunite with her Full House co-stars for the upcoming Netflix reboot, Fuller House. Speaking to PEOPLE Magazine at the end of last month, Lori Loughlin confirmed her return, telling the magazine, “I’m very excited. It’s going to be really great to be back with the whole cast. It’ll be a lot of fun.”
