New Torchlight II Video Shows Off New Pets

What with all of the focus being on Diablo III lately now that the game finally has a release date, one might forget that another loot-hoarding, dungeon-crawling hack-‘n’-slash by the name of Torchlight II is due to come out at some point later this year.

To help remind us that Torchlight II is still in the works, developer Runic Games put up a new post on the game’s official website that details the new pets being introduced in Torchlight II.

The original Torchlight introduced a few new innovations to the genre, but the pet system–which allowed you to sell off your junk items without having to leave the dungeon to do so–was by far one of my own personal favorites.

Runic Games is introducing quite a few new pets into Torchlight II, the developer revealed in the post, including an adorable Bulldog, an all-new (and improved) cat, and, naturally, a Ferret. You’ll also be able to have a Hawk, a Panther, a Wolf, and a Chakawary, a dragon-looking creature that Runic describes as being like “a creation from the Island of Dr. Moreau.”

To show off some of the new pets you’ll be using in Torchlight II, Runic Games uploaded a new video that shows each pet’s unique animations. You can see it for yourself in the embedded video directly below.

Unfortunately, Torchlight II is still without a proper release date, but it’s expected to release at some point later this year on PC and Mac.
