Both Krispy Kreme and Dunkin’ Donuts are going to celebrate National Doughnut Day, and that will allow you to get what you want in two locations.

Over at any Krispy Kreme location, you can stop in on Friday, June 5, to get your free doughnut of any variety. There is no purchase necessary (excluding Connecticut), and it’s taking place in any location in the United States, Canada, Australia, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Korea, Mexico, Turkey, Philippines, and Puerto Rico.

Dunkin’ Donuts is doing things a little differently as the press release stated. They’re still going to celebrate National Doughnut Day, and you can get a free doughnut, but it will have to be after you purchase any beverage.

They also state that free doughnuts are available while supplies last. Hopefully, Dunkin’ Donuts won’t run out of doughnuts. They are going to have this fun-filled day take place in restaurants nationwide and around the world.

Dunkin’ Donuts is also excluding Cheesecake Squares and Croissant Donuts from the National Doughnut Day free promotion. That still leaves about 70 options for consumers to get for their free doughnut.

Dunkin’ Donuts states that their most beloved varieties are the chocolate frosted, Boston kreme, traditional glazed, and chocolate glazed cake. They will all be available as an option for National Doughnut Day 2015.

There is actually one more location offering up free goodies for National Doughnut Day, and it’s Winn-Dixie. Yes, the grocery store chain is offering one free powdered doughnut hole per customer on Friday.

National Doughnut Day is always the first Friday of June each year, and it has a vast history. It was actually created to succeed the Donut Day event, which was created in 1938 by The Salvation Army to honor the men and women who served doughnuts to soldiers in World War I.

On Friday, whether you have to head out to work or not, get out and take advantage of National Doughnut Day 2015. Get your free doughnut from Krispy Kreme or Dunkin’ Donuts and give a thank you to those that have helped so many people over the years, ever since World War I.
