Robbie Williams, Ayda Field Expecting First Child

British singer Robbie Williams and his wife, actress Ayda Field, are expecting a baby, the “Angels” crooner announced via his personal blog on Friday.

“I’ve been keeping a secret from you all — me and Ayda are going to be mummy and daddy this year,” he wrote.

Williams, 38, said the baby was expected later this year.

“We’ve seen scans and cried … looked at babies in commercials and teared up … the nursery is already planned,” the singer wrote, adding that he couldn’t wait “to be a daddy”.

According to Contact Music, Williams, who rose to fame in boy band Take That, married Field, 32, at his Beverly Hills home in August 2010.

After leaving Take That he forged a successful solo career and signed one of the world’s biggest music deals with EMI in 2002.

In October he announced he was switching labels to record his ninth studio album with Universal Music.

Of the new album, Williams wrote in December:

“I think a while ago I said the new album sounds like Escapology. I’ll have to revise that. The new album sounds like none of the old ones.

“But I have been listening to what you want from me. You want guitar/ piano/ heart on my sleeve stuff. OK, you got it. I made the last couple of albums for me and had a great time doing it, but my raison d’etre (world domination) was missing… It’s back.”
