The Doors To Reissue Two Lost Albums [Video]

Many know of the rocky road The Doors traveled along throughout the band’s existence, but few ever really learn the path that The Doors took beyond that fateful last album, L.A. Woman, which was recorded in October of 1970 when The Doors reconvened after an extended break. Shortly thereafter, Jim Morrison left the United States to meet his soulmate, Pam Courson, in Paris, never to return.

This isn’t where the path of The Doors ends as so many have believed. Instead, the remaining members of The Doors (Ray Manzarek, keyboardist; Robby Krieger, guitarist; and John Densmore, drummer) released two more albums under The Doors banner. At the time of their prospective releases, those albums, Other Voices and Full Circle, faded into obscurity. Full Circle only reached as high as 68 on the U.S. charts. And although Other Voices did considerably better, that album still only peaked at the 31 spot.

This fall, however, Other Voices and Full Circle are getting another chance to shine through Rhino Records. The reissue of the albums will hit stores and online distributors in two separate formats, according to a release issued by Rhino Records. Chiefly, the Doors albums will be released together as a two-disc set. Secondly, each album will be released as a separate 180-gram vinyl edition. Each album will include sleeves with historically accurate artwork and information that includes “the expansive foldout zoetrope that came with Full Circle‘s original release,” Entertainment Weekly reports.

Bruce Botnick, co-producer of Other Voices and a long-time associate of The Doors, has remastered both Doors albums. Included with the release of The Doors’ Full Circle single “Get Up And Dance” is a rare bonus track, “Treetrunk,” as a B-side track.

After Jim Morrison left the band and subsequently passed away, vocals were shared by remaining bandmates Krieger and Manzarek until The Doors officially disbanded with the close of the Full Circle tour. The surviving Doors members have reunited for concerts throughout the years. The most recent and final reunion concert was performed at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, following the 2013 passing of Ray Manzarek. Krieger and Densmore performed the concert as a tribute, which was entitled “An Evening With the Doors.”

The track listings for each of The Doors albums, as they will be in the reissue, are as follows:

Other Voices:
“In the Eye of the Sun”
“Variety is the Spice Of Life”
“Ships w/Sails”

Much like The Doors, Van Halen recently issued a never-before-released live album in March.
