Gumball 3000 Flight Passengers Smoke, Drink, And Enjoy Drunken Pillow Fight

The Gumball 3000 is widely regarded as one of the most outrageous events of the year, as it sees extreme celebrities and daredevils gathering together to race across Europe. And as you’d expect, when they all had to travel on the same 14-hour flight their activities reached an all-time high. Or low, depending on how you look at these things.

Their hectic flight from Amsterdam to Reno, Nevada, saw one of the passengers strip completely naked, the rest drank profusely, some even started to smoke, while pretty much everyone on-board took part in a mammoth pillow fight. All of which took place at 37,000 feet in the air.

The Daily Mail has reported that another hedonistic incident that unfolded saw revellers on the flight trying to lift up a woman and then place her into the overhead compartment. In between these random acts, photographs have emerged of passengers downing huge shots of spirits and vodka.

Writing for Guide Autoweb, Benjamin Hunting said of the flight, “there was nudity, there was an impromptu DJ set played over the airplane’s speaker system, and my very first (and maybe way too intense) pillow fight at 37,000 feet. Alcohol flowed freely, and by hour six the regret train had left the station at full steam, with its carnage perhaps best represented by a mournful plea for justice over the Boeing’s PA after one unfortunate individual fell asleep a little too early and discovered that he had been manscaped below the waist while unconscious.”

After such a long and arduous party on board the plane, you’d have thought that those partaking in Gumball 3000 would have then rested their weary heads before returning to their automobiles for the final leg of the competition. But it didn’t quite go that way as they instead had to immediately get behind the wheel and race from Reno to San Francisco, a journey of 218 miles.

As you probably guessed, this leg of the journey was by far the most arduous for those involved. In fact Benjamin Hunting, who was one of the lucky passengers onboard the flight who then had to drive, wrote that it was “the most dangerous part of the entire rally so far.”

Hunting added for his publication, “Absolutely all of us on the crew were exhausted, which when compounded by the hard partying in the air by many of the teams made for a situation when no one should have been driving, period.”

Hunting was rather scathing of Gumball’s organization of the event, stating, “It was a beyond boneheaded move by Gumball to schedule a drive immediately after a fourteen hour international flight lubricated by more alcohol than you’d find backstage at a Bacardi commercial shoot.”

One of the most outrageous passengers on board the plane was Matthew Pritchard, who rose to fame in Great Britain as the star of Dirty Sanchez, which has been described as a more extreme version of Jackass. Pritchard was seen running naked up the aisles of the plane, drinking, smoking, and causing mischief. However he eventually tired himself out, as he was later photographed passed out.

The drivers did make it to San Francisco, while Gumball 3000 will culminate in Las Vegas on Saturday, May 30.
