Walgreens, Pizza Hut, Hulu, And Others Dump ’19 Kids And Counting’: Another Blow For Duggars [Video]

In the aftermath of the Josh Duggar molestation charges, more than 20 companies are cutting ads from 19 Kids And Counting.

Some of those companies severing ties with the Duggars include Walgreens, Pizza Hut and General Mills. Companies took to Twitter to announce that they’re distancing themselves from the Duggars. “Please know that we will no longer be advertising on 19 Kids and Counting,” tweeted Pure Leaf Ice Tea on Tuesday, according to The New York Times. Crayola responded to the molestation charges as well, posting “we share your concern for the safety of children and have no plans to air Crayola commercials during future episodes.”

State Farm, a major supporter of the network, felt the blow back from the bad press and pulled its ads from any show about the Duggars as well. Arlene Lester, a spokeswoman for the insurance giant, justified the decision, stating “we just felt it was the right thing to do at this time given what was going on” with the Duggars.

The reality hit 19 Kids and Counting was one of TLC’s largest draws, and it sustained a major blow when the news leaked that as a teenager, Josh (now 27) was accused of molesting teenage girls, possibly including his sisters. Because of the blow up, the reality giant has since taken the Duggars off the air. Over the past few years, the network, which remains in the top 20 in prime time, has heavily relied on family-based reality shows with families like the Duggars to pump up its ratings.

It’s not clear whether the show has been cancelled, and no official word has been announced about the future of the Duggars on TLC. According to Fox CT, the reasons are complicated, since “while there is an Internet clamor…to pull the plug, the channel’s executives are considering the business ramifications, the channel’s longstanding relationship with the famous Duggar family, and the feelings of its audience.”

As previously reported by the Inquisitr, Hulu recently dropped the Duggars from its line up as well, a major blow in the wake of the accusations after TLC cancelled the show.

Currently, the Duggars are off the air by default since the network didn’t have plans to film the family at the present time. It’s possible production simply won’t continue in light of the current blow. Since there’s been no official word about the future of 19 Kids and Counting, companies are hedging their bets away from the Duggars, and publicly pulling away. It’s possible TLC might shift focus away from the Duggars as a whole, and more towards another subject: The Duggars who recently married such as Jill and Derick or Jessa and Ben.
