Comedy Central Reveals Premiere Date For The ‘New’ Daily Show With Trevor Noah As Host

Months after Jon Stewart announced that he was stepping down as the host of The Daily Show, Comedy Central Network has finally revealed the start date for the new host, Trevor Noah. USA Today reported that the network has decided that the “new” Daily Show will begin on September 28.

Trevor Noah, a 31-year-old South African native, has been contributing to The Daily Show for some time now. He has also been the source of criticism due to his content in stand-up acts prior to appearing on Comedy Central. The network reportedly revealed in March that Noah would, in fact, be succeeding Jon Stewart after his 16-year run. The announcement caused a serious backlash on social media, where fans of The Daily Show were concerned about Trevor Noah’s previous content. The comedian was accused many times of being racist, sexist, and anti-semitic. Comedy Central released a statement, asking commenters to judge Noah for his full body of work instead a few sentences.

“Like many comedians, Trevor Noah pushes boundaries; he is provocative and spares no one, himself included. To judge him or his comedy based on a handful of jokes is unfair. Trevor is a talented comedian with a bright future at Comedy Central.”

Trevor Noah also had a few words for critics who chose to judge him without seeing all of his content.

Though many still feel that Trevor Noah is unfit for the role of host because of his talked “racism, sexism and antisemitism,” others feel that Noah is saving The Daily Show. When is was first announced that Jon Stewart would retire, it was rumored that the show would be canceled altogether. After a 16-year legacy with Stewart, and three years of Craig Kilborn before that, it was hard for some to imagine anyone else as the host, people now seem to be picturing it.

Trevor Noah is now in the promotion stages, where Comedy Central Network is hyping up the viewers for his first season as host. Trevor will be only the third permanent host that The Daily Show has had in its history. Comedy Central has unofficially renamed its show for Noah, deeming it the “new and sexy” Daily Show in a recent video which the network posted to Youtube.
