WWE News: WWE Interested In Signing ‘Game Of Thrones’ Actor Hafthor Bjornsson To Wrestling Deal

The HBO series Game of Thrones has been a smash hit with fans who are as hardcore as some we see in the pro-wrestling world. Hafthor Bjornsson, who is known as the Mountain on the show, may soon be a WWE Superstar.

According to SEScoops.com, Mountain went to the WWE Performance Center recently, where he reportedly spoke to WWE officials about possibly working for the company. He appeared on camera for the WWE NXT special called WWE NXT Takeover: Unstoppable that took place live on the WWE Network last week. No one really knew why he was there at the time, but he apparently was a WWE guest for the show and must have spoken to officials at that point.

Mountain fits the mold of the Vince McMahon wrestler. He stands at 6’9 and weighs in at 419 lbs. He is a professional strongman, actor, and former basketball player, so he has excellent credentials. He is from Iceland, so while his English is not good enough to do promos, he is the type who probably doesn’t need to speak very often. He truly fits the character he plays on the show, which has been portrayed by a few men before him. He is actually the first person set to reprise the role in a consecutive season.

He is only 26-years-old, so he has a bright future of him in the world of pro wrestling. His name alone would be a big addition to the WWE Superstar list if he is able to do it.

WWE officials do want to sign him, but a person who saw him train could tell that his heart just wasn’t in it. That very well could change, or perhaps they simply caught him on a bad day. A guy at his size with such an athletic background is like a dream for WWE. While the classic WWE Superstar has changed to something completely different over the years, Vince McMahon still has a junky mentality with big men and Mountain fits this in an extreme way.

It will take time for him to be used on WWE programming as he would need training. Of course, due to his Game of Thrones affiliation, WWE would get a ton of outside attention if they ended up signing him. The cool part for WWE is that he is still very young and could be used for a long time. We will have to see what Mountain and WWE decide on soon.
