Jill Duggar And Jessa Duggar Could Get ’19 Kids And Counting’ Spin-Off, But What About Jana And Jinger?

Jill Duggar and Jessa Duggar might not have to lose their lucrative TV gigs because of Josh Duggar’s crimes and his parents’ attempts to cover them up.

According to People, TLC is considering ditching 19 Kids and Counting for a new spin-off series all about Jill Duggar and Jessa Duggar’s lives as newlyweds. The new show would also star their husbands, Derick Dillard and Ben Seewald.

“The show had begun to focus more and more on the next generation of Duggars, anyway – mainly Jill and Jessa and their marriages and babies,” a source told People. “That’s when the show got its highest ratings.”

19 Kids and Counting is in serious danger of being cancelled, and TLC will definitely have to scrap the reality series if companies continue to pull their advertising — at this point, simply cutting Josh Duggar from future episodes might not be enough to save the series. As the Inquisitr previously reported, the list of advertisers ditching the Duggars is currently 12 companies and counting. TLC’s only viable option may be to create a spin-off focusing on the less scandalous members of the Duggar family.

Unfortunately, the adult Duggar kids who still live at home can’t be a big focus of the spin-off because it would be impossible to focus on their lives without Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar making an appearance. Jim Bob and Michelle did play a part in making sure that Josh Duggar wouldn’t get prosecuted for sexually molesting four of his sisters when he was 14-years-old, so many viewers — and likely many advertisers — feel that it wouldn’t be appropriate to keep them on TV, either.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar encourage their daughters to be stay-at-home moms, so the girls’ best source of income is whatever they get paid for starring on 19 Kids and Counting. According to People, the family makes $25,000 to $40,000 per episode of 19 Kids. Most of that money would presumably start going to Jill Duggar and Jessa Duggar if they got their own show.

Creating a new series focusing on Jill and Jessa might not be enough to satisfy some 19 Kids and Counting fans, however. Many fans are also extremely interested in the lives of Jinger Duggar and Jana Duggar, the adult daughters who still live at home. Some viewers want to see the 21-year-old and 25-year-old enter into courtships and get married off like their sisters, and others want the girls to defy their parents by leaving home to pursue a career or a college education. If the new 19 Kids and Counting spin-off focuses solely on Jessa and Jill Duggar, fans will only get updates on Jana and Jinger if they visit their married sisters.

Fans were also looking forward to watching the courtship of a Duggar son. Josiah Duggar is currently courting 17-year-old Marjorie Jackson, an upbeat girl who is challenging Michelle’s dress code by wearing pants. Now viewers might not get to follow this intriguing new relationship.

Still, many fans would probably watch a spin-off that only focuses on Jessa and Jill Duggar if it was their only way to keep up with the family. Then there are the Duggar detractors who think that a 19 Kids and Counting spin-off is a terrible idea.
