Duggars Spank Kids With An Actual Rod, Police Report Confirms
The Duggars spank kids with an actual rod, according to an unsealed police report.
The 19 Kids and Counting stars have been under fire lately after In Touch magazine revealed that their oldest son Josh Duggar had sexually molested five girls, including his sisters. The scandal has opened the world up to the secret life of the Duggars, and their possibly violent discipline methods.
Josh admitted to forcibly fondling the girls, sometimes while they slept, in a newly released police report, obtained by the magazine by a Freedom of information Act request. In the same report, one of the victims revealed that the Duggars spank kids with a rod for punishment, according to Gawker.
“Inv. Taylor asked [redacted] about getting spanked. [redacted] said that when [redacted] is bad that [redacted] mother and dad spank [redacted]. Inv. Taylor asked what they use to spank. [redacted] said they have a rod. Inv. Taylor asked if they do this to all the kids and [redacted] said yes. Inv. Taylor asked if they leave any bruising [redacted] said no.”
The Duggars have been very vocal about how they raise their children, homeschooling them and trying to instill conservative Christian values. However, they have never publicly spoke on how they disciplined their children.
In 2010, Michelle Duggar was asked, “Do or have you ever had to spank your children?” She then issued a response on her TLC blog, basically avoiding the question all together.

“We have people ask us that all the time,” Michelle said. “We’ve really chosen to focus on praising our kids for good character, for Godly character. And as we do that, we find that we have a lot less trouble with correction when we are constantly looking for ways to praise them.”
“In training the little guys, day in and day out, if I see the little ones not being kind to each other, I will take them aside and I will deal with them and talk to them and have them work this out amongst themselves and learn to communicate and be kind to each other,” she added. “And then when I see them being sweet and doing what’s right, I make a big deal!”
