Stephen Curry Injury Status: Warriors Guard Could Be Done for Season

ESPN News is reporting that Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry will miss at least an additional two weeks while rehabbing a sprained right ankle. At that time, doctors will re-examine and evaluate his ability to play.

According to a statement issued by the team, the earliest Curry – currently averaging 14.7 points and 5.3 assists – could return from his ankle injury is April 11 or 12, against Portland or Dallas. He has already missed the last 10 games due to the sprain and has only played in 26 games for the year.

With only 18 more games remaining in the shortened 66-game season for Golden State, many doubt the 24-year-old will recover in time to suit up.

The Warriors (20-28) are 7-15 in 22 games without Curry this season.

USA Today writes that the former Davidson star rolled the ankle in a Dec. 21 preseason game and five days later stepped on an opponent’s foot to roll the ankle again.

Curry limped off the court in a Jan. 4 game against the San Antonio Spurs and returned to play 16 days later.

In his last game (March 11, against the Los Angeles Clippers), Stephen Curry could go only nine minutes and failed to score.

In Stephen’s absence, Golden State has found scoring production out of rookie guard Klay Thompson lately, and he’ll continue to be an offense focus with Curry out of the lineup.

Since March 13, Thompson has averaged 19.7 points (setting personal highs three times), 3.1 assists and 2.2 rebounds.
