Tonight’s jackpot is $154 million, but the cash value is always less than the jackpot amount. According to the Multi State Lottery Association, if a winning ticket it drawn, the one-time lump sum payout would be $96.4 million before taxes.

Additionally, winners in Puerto Rico do not pay federal tax on lottery winnings, but they must pay a special tax of between 5 and 20 percent of the total jackpot amount.

Powerball drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10:59 p.m. ET. Tickets can be purchased for $2 each at lottery retailers in 44 States, Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Most retailers sell tickets until 10:45 p.m. ET the night of the drawing, but cut-off times may vary by location.
