Maroon 5’s ‘The Voice’ Appearance Helps Boost ‘This Summer’s Gonna Hurt’ Atop Radio Charts

Maroon 5 knows how to get the most bang for its buck. The Adam Levine fronted pop rockers crashed the final episode of NBC’s The Voice recently and brought to its audience their new smash hit, “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt.”

Now, the only thing this new song is hurting is the rest of its competition on radio. As reported by Hollywood Life, Adam Levine and his band mates showed the new comers vying for a seat at the grownups table how to rock the house on The Voice.

“Adam and his band totally brought the funk with their new summer anthem! While they rocked out, the screen behind them lit up with bright 1980’s images, full of neon and classic coolness. For a moment, we were transported to a Miami beach for an all night party! Thank you, Maroon 5!”

Meanwhile, “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt” is both a Top 25 radio hit and the most added adult contemporary song spinning on radio today, according to Headline Planet. Despite some confusing lyrics, Maroon 5’s “This Summer’s Gonna Hurt” knocked the almighty Taylor Swift from the top spot.

“Last week, Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ claimed the top spot on Mediabase’s hot adult contemporary add board,” Headline Planet reports. “Maroon 5’s ‘This Summer’s Gonna Hurt’ ranked as second-most added. This week, the two songs switch positions.”

The site continued, “Picked up by 34 monitored stations, Maroon 5’s ‘Summer’ ranks as the Hot AC format’s most-added song. Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ earns second-most added on the strength of 30 weekly adds.”

The band can almost certainly thank their Voice appearance for helping buoy momentum. However, not everything on the show is going as swimmingly for coach Adam Levine. As reported by ClassicalLite, rumors are swirling that Levine’s fellow judge Christina Aguilera has worn out her welcome on the show and that she may be fired soon.

“In addition to her reported relationship woes with her boyfriend, Christina is said to be virtually despised by the cast and crew of the hit TV show — with Adam Levine supposedly leading the call to have the ‘Genie in a Bottle’ singer fired and replaced Gwen Stefani or Shakira.”

And Levine himself was recently sugar bombed outside a taping of Jimmy Kimmel Live, as reported by Inquistr, when a fan tossed a bag of powdered sugar on the Maroon 5 star as a prank.

Still, aside from these minor rumblings, all is right in Maroon 5 land. And with the top summer jam on radio airwaves today, Adam Levine and company show no signs that they’re “hurting.”
