Yale Grad Leaps To Death: Conservative Political Students Have Violent Clash Before Suicide Ends It For One

A Yale grad leaps to his death after attacking another student. The college graduate leaped from the ninth floor of the Taft Apartments, landing three stories below on a terrace, PIX 11 reports.

Tyler Carlisle attacked Alexander Michaud, 21, about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at a building located across the street from the campus. Carlisle committed suicide soon after the attack, but Michaud is in stable condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Both Carlisle and Michaud are reportedly from Manchester, New Hampshire. Police haven’t said much about the case, but did say the men were acquaintances. It’s unknown what happened prior to the stabbing and suicide.

Yale University released a statement after the grad leaped to his death.

“The New Haven Police Department has informed the University that Tyler Carlisle, who graduated from Yale College this year, died earlier today after falling from an apartment building window, and Alexander Michaud, a member of the Yale College Class of 2017, sustained stab wounds in the same apartment, and has been hospitalized.

The University extends its deepest sympathy to the families and friends of these two members of the Yale community, and joins everyone in hoping for Alexander’s full recovery.

Yale’s mental health counselors and staff of the Chaplain’s Office are available to provide support to anyone from Yale on campus or in New Haven who is affected by this tragedy.

The New Haven Police Department is investigating and Yale remains in contact with the department to provide any cooperation needed.”

In a report published by Capital Bay, Tyler Carlisle graduated from Yale last week. He also managed the campaign of Fairfield ophthalmologist Dr. Joe Bentivegna. The doctor ran on the Republican ticket for the 4th Congressional District seat, but was unsuccessful.

The Yale grad who leaped to his death was also a former Eagle Scout and was a technical consultant to the GOP candidate for president, Rick Santorum.

Both Carlisle and Michaud were actively involved in Yale Political Union’s conservative constituent party, known as Party of the Right Union.

Yale Press Secretary Tom Conroy informed Daily Mail that mental health counselors and staff of the Chaplain’s Office were on hand for extra support after the upsetting attack against Michaud and the death of Carlisle that followed.

It’s a shock to students and staff at Yale that such a violent incident occurred with two, promising graduate students.
