‘Paper Towns’ Star Cara Develingne Reveals She Almost Quit Acting, Plus Is Her Next Role In ‘Fifty Shades Darker’?

Supermodel and actress Cara Delevingne recently revealed in an interview in Wall Street Journal’s June issue the downside of modeling and how she almost gave up on her acting career before it even took off.

Although Delevingne is not a household name yet, she may be after her first starring role in the movie Paper Towns out later this summer. Plus, Fashion & Style is reporting that the British beauty has been cast as Leila Williams in the 2017 blockbuster Fifty Shades Darker, the sequel to the blockbuster Fifty Shades of Grey. She is also currently filming Suicide Squad alongside Will Smith and Jared Leto.

At this point, Cara may be known more for her flock of besties, which includes Taylor Swift and Kendall Jenner, and her popular Instagram account. But she does not want the public to judge her on her party girl persona.

“It’s horrible living in a world where I’ll get a call from someone saying, So-and-so says you were partying a lot and you were looking this way and you need to lose weight. It makes me so angry. If you don’t want to hire me, don’t hire me.”

Cara Delevingne has been open about the fact that it was always her dream to act, modeling just happened along the way. But that does not mean that it was easy to get auditions – or even an agent – once she had made it in the modeling world.

“I basically gave up on acting, because trying to get an agent was impossible. Everyone said, ‘You’re just a model,’ … once I had my mind set that I was going to do this modeling thing, I really wanted to beat it, if that makes sense. Win it.”

And win it she did. Her first major leading role will be in this summer’s Paper Towns. Based on the book written by The Fault In Our Stars author John Green, Delevingne stars as Margo, a free-spirited senior who suddenly goes missing, alongside the Naked Brothers Band Nat Wolff.

And according to Wyck Godfrey, who over oversaw the casting in Fault as well as the Twilight series, it was her audition that sealed it.

“We went into the audition with skepticism that she would be right, but her performance grabbed us.”

Paper Towns director Jake Schreier added, “There was a realness—it didn’t feel like she was acting. On a global scale, Cara is a version of Margo. People project all these fantasies on her.”
