Jealous Husband Jailed 18 Years For Vicious Attack On Estranged Wife, Stabbing Her 20 Times In Her Face, Neck, And Back

A jealous husband has been jailed 18 years after pleading guilty to the vicious attack on his estranged wife, stabbing her 20 times in the face, neck, and back, according to Mirror.

After finding out his estranged wife, Theresa Tuley, of Blackpool, Lancs – whom he shares two children with – had a new boyfriend, Andrew Tuley, 44, broke into her home in the early hours with intent to murder her. But his plan went awry when she fled the home after seeing his knife, bringing on a foot chase.

The chase ended in a neighbor’s garden where he began stabbing her repeatedly in the face, neck, back, and then took off. Their children – ages 11 and 13 – were asleep during the attack, but awakened after hearing their mother’s screams. Their 13-year-old daughter rushed to her mother’s aid and called for help.

When paramedics arrived at the scene, Theresa was barely breathing. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where physicians said her larynx was severed, and her right ear had been severely cut to the point where it was barely intact. She was in critical condition.

Andrew was later apprehended and charged with attempted murder.

Since the attack, Theresa has made a full recovery.

During his hearing, he pleaded guilty and confessed that he tried to kill his estranged wife and mother of his two children after learning about her new boyfriend.

“This is a thoroughly terrible crime which might well have ended in loss of life – which you intended, having pleaded guilty to attempted murder. The permanent scars will serve as a very visible reminder to your victim and her family of this ordeal,” said Judge Anthony Russell to Andrew during his sentencing.

“The oldest two children both saw you with the knife. They heard their mother screaming and the oldest had to help care for her mother while they waited for the ambulance to arrive.

“They have to come to terms with the dreadful fact that their father tried to kill their mother.”

Theresa and her two children appeared in court, prepared to hear Andrew’s sentencing. Judge Russell sentenced Andrew to 18 years in prison for attempted murder.

Detective Sergeant Kathryn Riley stated that “The attack has had a long lasting effect on both the victim and her young family, and I hope that today’s sentence will go some way towards helping them come to terms with the attack.”
