‘Primates of Park Avenue’: Book Excerpts Of Rich NYC Wives Popping Pills, Buying $150,000 Birkin Bags Causing A Panic

Author Wednesday Martin has already caused plenty of buzz when research for her Primates of Park Avenue book revealed that some Upper East Side stay-at-home moms get wife bonuses from their rich husbands, as reported by the Inquisitr. Martin approached her Primates of Park Avenue tome like an anthropologist, and even warned her New York City friends that their stories might appear in her book, but as the publication date of June 2 approaches, so does panic.

That’s because excerpts from the Primates of Park Avenue book, reports the New York Post?, show what a strange world the memoir uncovers. Martin details a world centered around Park Avenue, where she moved years ago, that included hyper-intensive mothering and lots of drinking, drug use, and competition.

The Primates of Park Avenue had to cope with the fears of their rich husbands cheating or leaving them. These are women who actually timed their pregnancies or IVF treatments so they’d deliver their babies in October or November, therefore their children would be among the oldest to enter schools at the appropriate fall term, enough to get a leg up intellectually on the other kids.

From expensive nursery schools, gyms that cost $4,000 per year, and $150,000 Birkin bags, the Primates of Park Avenue details crazy prices, and the outlandish women who hired glam squads simply to drop off and pick up their kids from school.

“The average tuition for a toddler in 2004 ranged from $25,000 to $35,000 a year.”

No wonder the Upper East Side moms are panicking due to the secrets set to be released in the Primates of Park Avenue book, reports Page Six?. The New York-based publication reports that women in the region are already trying to nail down who the real-life people are behind some of the stories in the book — and those featured are already angry at Martin.

“The author asked a bunch of the moms for their stories for the book, and told everyone she wouldn’t say anything bad, then tossed them all under the bus. Everyone is furious, and afraid.”

With secrets about rich mothers hiring disabled people to wait in Disney lines so their children don’t have to wait hours to ride a ride being spilled during the research phase of Primates of Park Avenue, it’s no wonder these women want to remain hidden.

The Kindle edition of the book on Amazon has already risen to No. 242 in the Kindle Store as of this writing, a full week before it is set to be released.
