WWE News: Vince McMahon Doesn’t Want Talent With National Cable Experience, Wants To Create New Stars

WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon is all about creating talent and making WWE it’s own unique place where it is all WWE focused. However, WWE has brought in people from other companies in the past. Usually, WWE sticks to the Indy scene or simply brings people in and makes them wrestlers. People have come in as football players, amateur wrestlers, bodybuilders, and even actors. WWE made many of them into big time performers, so the recipe seems to be good.

Samoa Joe and Sting just came in, both with cable television experience outside of WWE. WWE didn’t change either man’s name, which was good to see. Clearly, if WWE did change them, fans would get angry over it and vent their frustrations. The interesting part about this whole thing is that Vinny McMahon may see money in both, at least Triple H sure does. However, he isn’t big on established guys normally.

According to Cageside Seats, it has been put into the books that McMahon’s current mentality is to not bring in anyone who have been on national cable television as of late. That obviously means no one from TNA will be signed by WWE, at least for the foreseeable future. The only TNA original WWE has ever brought in was Samoa Joe. Every other talent they had were either built by them originally or had some WCW/ECW roots. After 2001, WWE built every talent they had just about.

Joe is in his mid-30’s and so are a lot of the top TNA originals. Despite how good many are, they probably won’t get a shot in WWE if they wanted to leave right now. However, if TNA were to go out of business there are quite a lot of people there that WWE would want. Many of them are young enough to give them a shot on WWE NXT, meanwhile some are simply too old to get a shot.

Some like Austin Aries could get signed to a deal similar to Samoa Joe as he has a similar following with a lot of people who like him from WWE. Aries has also been used by THQ and 2K Sports for WWE video game material. This is why Aries trademark entrance is on the 2K games each year.

Vince McMahon has always been about making people on his own. However, that is tough to do these days. Many Indy talents are more than capable of being part of WWE either now or in the future. WWE would have to train them in the company way, but most are clearly worthy of being given a chance. People like Sami Zayn, Dean Ambrose, Daniel Bryan, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Hideo Itami, Adrian Neville, and Finn Balor had major Indy cred before being signed by WWE. One of WWE’s top stars of the last decade in CM Punk had just as much Indy cred as them as well.

WWE can make many into top stars for them, especially if they are brought in young. Sadly, the days of bringing in a body builder and making them a top star are over so Vince McMahon may have to get out of his current mentality. It is probably a good thing that Triple H runs Talent Relations now.
