PlayStation 3: Time To Move On

PlayStation 3 consoles are left with fewer and fewer special features and games. The fans that remained loyal to the third generation now become slightly annoyed with the lack of new choices – in games and tricks.

Recently, the Inquisitr reported that Ubisoft is going to stop making some of the newest versions of games available for the PlayStation 3 users.

“The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles have had a really great run and Ubisoft feels that it’s time to let these third generation consoles go.

Game Revolution reports that earlier this week, CEO Yves Guillemot announced at the earnings briefing at Ubisoft that they are dropping the compatibility of their upcoming titles on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. Meaning, players of the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles are not seeing Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, Rainbow Six: Siege, and The Division— unless of course they switch to the newer generation consoles.

Some new games are still available on the third generation consoles — however, they are not that popular. One could say they are made for the old generation of gamers, not just for the old generation of PlayStation. According to the Pushsquare, one of such games is the seventh sequel of Mega Man.

“Yes, the infamous dialogue of Mega Man 8 is making its way to the PlayStation Store on 27th May, along with the rest of the game. There’s no word on a price just yet, but if past trends are anything to go by, it’ll probably be under $10.”

The main problem is that all features, previously available on PlayStation 3 exclusively, were by now included into a PlayStation 4 range of possibilities. At the same time, all of PS3 bugs are removed. According to Polygon, Ultra Street Fighter 4 is a good example of this.

“When the PlayStation 4 version of Ultra Street Fighter 4 hits next week it will include developer Lab Zero’s drivers to support licensed PS3 fight sticks, according to Gio Corsi with SCEA.”

More detail on how that will work will hit the Lab Zero and Capcom Unity sites after the game’s May 26 launch, Corsi writes.

“The game’s digital launch will also include all DLC launched up to the release date, a tweak to remove the input lag that bugged some players on the PlayStation 3, and the game will be running at 1080p and 60 frames per second.”

It seems that the third generation consoles simply cannot compete with the newer versions. Perhaps PlayStation 3 is living through its last days.
