Half-And-Half Hair: Split-Dyed Hair With Two Colors Seeks To Push Ombre Away On Instagram

If you want to know what trends are emerging in the world of beauty, a simple Google search will lead you there. That’s where articles like one about half-and-half hair by InStyle informs trend seekers all about the newest styling wave that might become the hottest thing since ombre hit the hair scene. Also called split-dyed hair, the half-and-half hair trend is showing up in social media photos on Instagram, whereby the wearer chooses two main colors for their hair.

Unlike ombre hair, where the colors are usually displayed in a horizontal fashion — generally with darker hair fading to lighter ends — the half-and-half hair trend shows one hemisphere of the hair dyed a different color than the other.

As seen on the half and half hair hashtag on Instagram, which enjoys nearly 30,000 posts as of this writing, those split-dyed colors can be as subtle or bold as the user chooses. Some choose a bold bleached blonde, nearly platinum color on one half of their hair, with a shocking brunette or black look on the other half.

Other photos show a more subtle rendering of the half-and-half hair look, with a dark brown paired with a deep purple color. And there are the playful pastel colors in lavender or pink and other hues in the split-dyed photos.

The half-and-half split hair dye jobs could make folks forget all about the ombre hair dye, reports the Huffington Post.

Apparently calling it “half and half hair” is more popular than its other names and monikers, according to the Instagram tags. While #HalfandHalfHair enjoys nearly 30,000 images tagged using that hashtag, #splitdyedhair only has 424 posts by comparison. As for #splitdyed, it enjoys a bit more at 443 posts tagged that way on Instagram.

Nevertheless, plenty of fashion publications are asking if the half-and-half hair color trend will last, reports Elle. Others ask their readers if they are bold enough to wear the artistic style of dying one half of your hair a completely different color than the other. As beauty trends go, the split-dyed look will no doubt be one that is looked back upon with either fond memories of creative expression or a shake of the head along with questions about what the wearers were thinking.

As reported by the Inquisitr, other recent beauty trends include LED light therapy and even urine facials for more youthful looks and to help improve acne.
