‘The Witcher 3:’ A Few Things To Do While In Game

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has had an extremely successful launch week by all accounts. While there were some bumps and bugs, The Witcher 3 hasn’t disappointed in terms of scope and the sheer ambitiousness of the game. CD Projekt RED has filled the game with plenty of goodies for players to do, but the size of the world might intimidate some. Here are a few things to do might help boost your in-game experience.

Take in the Scenery

The Witcher 3 is an unquestionably beautiful game, no matter the platform. While the PC version benefits from the extra horsepower hardware can provide, the Xbox One and PS4 versions of the game will make any console player happy. Take in the scenery of the Continent, catch a sunset, roam the woods at night — just enjoy the surroundings of the world CDPR has created. You won’t be sorry.

Play Some Gwent

Gwent is an in-game card game in The Witcher 3. The rules aren’t overly complex but its strategies can be hard to master. Early on, seek out merchants, armorers, and tavern folk to play a few rounds of Gwent. The card game is surprisingly deep and affords a great break from fighting Drowners and other Necophages in the wild. Just don’t be too upset if you lose early. You’ll get better. You might even be able to challenge prominent characters in the story before long!

Go Exploring

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is huge. The map is littered with caves, tunnels, villages, and so on for players to explore. Caves may prove to have valuable rewards, while stumbling across a small village could prove profitable if there is a good witcher contract available. Don’t be afraid to stray off the path and look for some loot, you may end up being rewarded in the end.

Grab a Contract

The Witcher 3 follows Geralt, a monster hunter for hire. Why not do exactly what that job entails? Witchers are constantly being employed to root out a monster’s presence in an area, and if you look closely enough, you might find some NPCs willing to pay you to take care of it. Be careful though, as The Witcher 3 doesn’t seem to scale to your level, so make sure you’re on level with the contract in question.
