‘Breaking Amish’ Star Arrested: Jeremiah Raber Busted For Being Drunk And Disorderly

Another TLC “reality” star has found himself on the wrong side of the law this week, and this time it’s Breaking Amish star Jeremiah Raber, who was nabbed in Pennsylvania Saturday following a drunken outburst, The Daily Mail is reporting.

The 33-year-old was arrested at about 2:40 a.m. Saturday morning in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, about 60 miles east of Pittsburgh.

Police say the Breaking Amish star was a passenger in a vehicle that was pulled over by state troopers. After the driver was let on his way, Raber allegedly stuck his head out the window and began yelling obscenities at the cops. Police followed the vehicle to a nearby home where the star then got into a “screaming match” with the officers. He was arrested for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

The Breaking Amish star was later released.

It is unclear, as of this post, what criminal charges, if any, Raber will face. According to Law for All, swearing at cops is technically considered free speech and not a crime, although in certain situations (such as inciting a riot) it can be.

“The line between protected and unprotected speech can be thin. Those who, knowing the First Amendment’s protections, are tempted to antagonize police officers should think twice.”

Breaking Amish on TLC follows the lives of Amish young people who, whether for just a night or for a few years, leave the strict rules of their communities behind and live life like outsiders. 33-year-old Jeremiah Raber says on his biography on the show’s website that he joined the show so he could finally do what he wants.

“I’m here to do what I want, for once in my life.”

Just how “real” the so-called “reality show” is remains a matter of intense debate, according to Bustle. Some digging through public records and social media reveal that many cast members of the show’s first season seem to have led decidedly non-Amish lives before being featured on Breaking Amish.

Meanwhile, for TLC, the legal problems continue to mount for casts of some of its more popular shows. In October last year, allegations surfaced that Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star Mama June was dating a convicted sex offender, according to this Inquisitr report; TLC then cancelled the show. And of course, you’ve no doubt heard by now that TLC has pulled the hugely-popular 19 Kids and Counting following revelations that son Josh Duggar sexually molested several girls.

Fortunately for TLC, it looks like the Breaking Amish star’s arrest stems from a comparatively minor crime; no word yet on whether or not TLC will wind up pulling yet another popular reality show off the air.
