Timbaland’s Tink: Is Aaliyah ‘One In A Million’ Remake Better?

If you haven’t heard of Tink, get ready. She’s Timbaland’s protégé, not an Aaliyah replacement. However, her remake of “One in a Million” might top charts.

Her real name is Trinity Home. However, she mentioned that she acquired her stage name one day when someone simply called her “Tink.” She said that it just stuck.

Familiarly, Tink’s songs sound reminiscent of the ’90s while integrating the essences of today’s musical ideas. Though there are music artists who can handle both arts of rapping and singing, Tink makes it sound easy as she has several years of experience under her belt.

Recently, Tink’s remake of Aaliyah’s “One in a Million” was released. And what a release it is!

At first, you have to wonder if it would hold up to the original. Usually, remixes don’t go as well and would be better off buried. However, this is not the case.

It’s more than apparent that Tink has Timbaland’s full support. He believes in her, similar to how he did with Aaliyah. After a performance, while on stage, he even told the world that Aaliyah came to him in a dream and told him that Tink was “the one.”

This vision wasn’t necessarily saying that she was her replacement. However, Tink is said to be the one who will give him that musical drive again. Though Timbo has worked with various other mainstream artists, it simply wasn’t the same.

Now, you can clearly hear that “old” Timbaland coming back into proximity. Tink’s version of the famous song begins with a sample from Aaliyah’s original. And after a few seconds, it switches to Trinity’s updated sound.

From Home’s vocals, you can hear that she has a well-rounded skill and harmonic understanding. Also, she says that she wants the world to know that she’s going to bring something different with her lyrics.

In an interview with the Breakfast Club, she mentions that there’s enough songs about twerking and violence in the world. She said that she wants her messages to make a difference.

So, give Tink’s “One in a Million” remix a listen and decide for yourself if hers holds up to the original.
