WWE News: Former WWE Champion CM Punk Jokingly Teases A Wrestling Return With Samoa Joe

CM Punk’s return is imminent. Obviously, the WWE fans out there that scour the internet daily hear that phrase once a week. The current UFC fighter is busy training for his next fight, watching the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL playoffs, and hanging out with his wife, AJ Lee, a former-WWE Divas champion. Clearly, Punk’s return is not imminent.

Even though WWE fans believe it will happen one day, the one person who will make that decision isn’t buying it. Instead of saying that he’ll return to the WWE, he’s not one to shy away from joking with the WWE fans.

Earlier this week, CM Punk was asked by an Indy promoter to come work a match with newly signed WWE recruit Samoa Joe. Here was his response.

There are WWE fans who believe CM Punk was serious in his tweet. Since Punk and Joe have been friends for over a decade, it’s common that the two of them engaged in wrestling-based satire. The internet is a strange place for wrestling fans, especially those that follow the WWE. In rare occasions, they will believe anything.

Now, don’t rule out a wrestling return to CM Punk in the future. Notice that it didn’t say WWE. Samoa Joe was askedabout a final match with Punk, and his response didn’t negate any optimism.

“You know, (CM) Punk. For everything it is we’ve still I know he very much wants to have one last one, one last go. I’m sure he’d love for it to be 100 minutes or 90 minutes but we’ll see how that goes.”

Everybody would line up in the thousands to see that match. Unfortunately, CM Punk has moved on from the WWE and from professional wrestling. In fact, most of the WWE fans have moved on from Punk. There aren’t many “CM Punk” chants in the arenas, even though Vince McMahon doesn’t mind them.

For right now, the WWE is succeeding without CM Punk. Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are going to wrestle at Elimination Chamber for the WWE championship.

WWE NXT is the hottest commodity in pro wrestling today. Samoa Joe just made his debut with the company, and Kevin Owens is fighting John Cena at Elimination Chamber too. With all the great matches going on, Punk isn’t needed like before. He will return one day, but it’s fine that it hasn’t happened yet.
